The album offers a diverse mix of ethiojazz, with its scales, rhythms, history and its corporeal spirit \u00e0 la Hailu Mergia and Mulatu Astatke, swirling flute improvisations and crisp synth sounds. Esy Tadesse\u2019s vocals are often dreamingly wordless, leaving plenty of room for her desert-bluesy guitar playing. Moods shift from intimate playfulness to Moroccan gnawa, and on to light-hearted bossa nova melancholy.
