Halvcirkel’s body of work is as diverse as their artistic philosophy. They have reimagined works by composers such as Dmitri Shostakovich and Philip Glass, collaborated with artists across musical disciplines including Henrik Lindstrand, Signe Lykke, Hania Rani and undertaken special commissions like their collaboration with Denmark’s National Gallery in 2023. Their work with composer Anders Lauge Meldgaard on a reimagination of the Ancient Greek poet Sappho’s Fragment 94 reflects their interest in working across the whole spectrum of the arts. Their philosophy is that a band is never separate from its surroundings but always part of something larger. Their sound is marked by the intricate interplay of their instruments, which blend seamlessly to create a dynamic musical dialogue driven by contrast, tension and resolution.
