Oren Ambarchi is one of the most famous musicians in the experimental scene, Christer Bothén is known from groups such as Archimedes Badkar, Bolon Bata and collaborations with Don Cherry, bassist Johan Berthling is found in Swedish groups such as Nacka Forum, Fire!, Fredrik Ljungkvist’s Yunkan band, Goran Kajfe’s Subtropic Arkestra and drummer Andreas Werliin from Tonbruket, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Fire! and Langendorf United. Ghosted forms a strange musical landscape.
Ghosted released their debut album on the legendary Chicago label Drag City, and was praised by music magazines Mojo and Uncut. The album also ended up high on The Guardian’s best of the year list.
Ambarchi, Berthling, Bothén and Werliin share a fascination with rhythm and the myriad of ways it can subdivide within the beat. Using aspects of jazz, world and experimental music, each tune settles into a deep groove, digging itself via continuous minimal adjustments into an ever-deeper, eternal groove.
