Jakob Bro joins Rörane Studio.
Guitarist Jakob Bro is undoubtedly one of the most important names on the international jazz scene today. He has released 20 albums, most of them on ECM, as a bandleader and has played with legends such as Charles Lloyd, Paul Motian, Tomaz Stanko, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Midori Takada, Brian Blade, etc.
His latest album “Taking Turns” is a studio recording with icons such as Lee Konitz, Bill Frisell, Thomas Morgan, Jason Moran and Andrew Cyrille, and has received the highest ratings in the international press.
In recent years, Jakob Bro has explored the solo format at specially selected concerts around the world. About Jakob Bro’s solo concerts, the press has written “… no other Danish guitarist is capable of throwing himself into improvisations where control and free rein form a flowing field of tension”.
Jakob Bros’ music is at the center of Jørgen Leth and Andreas Koefoed’s film “Music for Black Pigeons”, which recently aired on SVT, premiered at the Venice Biennale and has since been shown at film festivals around the world. The soundtrack to the film was released in 2024 on Loveland Music.
