Quagmire med Christer Bothén – onsdag 5 juni

If human experience can sometimes be expressed in sound-thoughts, mantras, then here is an invitation to your inner mantra, your being as a sounding form.
The trio’s first album Quagmire was released on the Creative Sources label in 2019, and has received fantastic reviews in Swedish and international press/media.

“…At first I didn’t notice them, but the dog jumped, and then I listened again. Small electric shocks through both instrument and body. It also says something about the spatial range of music, i.e. the ability to stay in its sonorous space and at the same time meet me in the middle of the planet…” – Thomas Millroth, Orkesterjournalen 5/ 2019

Christer Bothén is this year’s recipient of the Swedish Artists’ Council’s large music scholarship. The motivation states, among other things:

For me, Christer is musical poetry, cobalt blue or rust brown, with air filled with dew or sand, regardless of whether he plays bass clarinet or guimbri. A musical storm, a complex force of nature. A mountaineer and a deep-sea diver, says singer and composer Mariam Wallentin.

Lineup:
Christer Bothén – bass clarinett, kontrabasklarinett, donso n’Goni,
Nina de Heney – bass,
Karin Johansson – piano,
Henrik Wartel – drums
